“50VG-50PG” or “50/50” E-liquid Mixture

Definition: This specific e-liquid is a mixture of 50% Vegetable Glycerin and 50% Propylene Glycol. The VG content is always listed first, followed by the PG content. It has nothing to do with the amount of nicotine contained within the e-liquid – this will me detailed elsewhere, usually as 0mg, 3mg, 6mg, 12mg or 18mg – which is the percentage of nicotine contained within the e-liquid – 0mg meaning 0% nicotine, 3mg meaning 3% nicotine, etc.

Vegetable Glycerin (VG) is a thick, sweet liquid. VG produces luscious clouds of vapour. VG also imparts a sweeter taste to your e-liquid.

Propylene Glycol (PG) is a much thinner tasteless liquid. PG produces more of a “throat hit” than VG does, which simulates the feel of smoking better.

Most e-liquid produces mix both PG and VG together to retain the advantages of the 2 ingredients. PG delivering a better flavour taste, stronger throat hit, and VG producing more vapour. Ratios vary but most e-liquid will fall under one of the following mixes: 50/50, 60/40, 65/35, 70/30, 80/20, 85/15 and 90/10.

Both Propylene Glycol (PG) and Vegetable Glycerin (VG) are considered safe and acceptable substance to be ingested by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration. In fact both substances are part of many types of food, pharmaceutical and cosmetic products.
